Approach
Upstream Public Health looks at the source of today's major health problems and identifies creative, evidence-based policy solutions that will address the root causes. Addressing the fundamental factors that contribute to serious diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, asthma, and cancer, will prevent millions of people from becoming sick, thus saving health care costs and needless suffering.
Our main agenda is to bring about better public health. We are not limited to one disease or to a specific approach. We are nimble and flexible in finding the best solutions to the most pressing health issues. Once we have found an effective solution, we work with other health advocates, government agencies, non-profits, and business organizations to create and implement the public policies that will improve our health.
OUR MISSION: Upstream Public Health advocates for policy solutions that change the societal constructs that contribute to ill health. Our mission is to promote the social, economic, political, and community conditions that improve the health and wellbeing of all Oregonians.
